Misconduct Reporting and Resolution Policy and Misconduct Reporting and Resolution Procedure – Highlight of Changes

Skate Canada has updated the Misconduct Reporting and Resolution Policy and the Misconduct Reporting and Resolution Procedure which entered into force December 12, 2025.

The revised policy and procedure replace the previous Skate Canada Misconduct Reporting and Resolution Policy and Misconduct Reporting and Resolution Procedure which entered into force on August 18, 2025 and the prior version of September 24, 2024 (the “Effective Dates”).

Reminder that it is your ongoing responsibility to be familiar with, understand and comply with the provisions of the policies and procedures of Skate Canada.

The majority of the changes from the previous two versions relate to the following:
o Automatic application of changes to policies and procedures are effective immediately unless otherwise noted
o Responsibility for the oversight (including reporting and resolution) to the Universal Code of Conduct to Address and Prevent Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS) was transferred the Office of the Sport Integrity Commissioner (OSIC) to the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) effective April 1, 2025 (and the recent name change from CCES to Sport Integrity Canada), and the introduction by Sport Integrity Canada of the Canadian Safe Sport Program(CSSP) and supporting CSSP Rules. Please note that this impacts program signatories only.
o Endorsement and adoption of the CSSP and Rules.
o Processes introduced with the change to Sport Integrity Canada – including respecting the decisions/sanctions of Sport Integrity Canada
o Clarity on complaints received from minors, which may include having a parent/guardian or other adult serve as their representative during the processes as set out in the Policy and the Procedure.
o Scope clarity to whom this policy / procedure applies to – specifically that the policy and procedure applies to current / past individuals as defined in the Policy who were individuals at the time of the alleged act, conduct, behaviour; inclusion of online/virtual as part of the ‘environment’ and that clarity that the scope of this policy and procedure for an act, conduct, behaviour includes those that may occur domestically and/or internationally
o Confidentiality and privacy updated to include the receipt of respondent information for complaints received by the Case Manager under the Skate-Safe program (or Sport Integrity Canada under the CSSP process for program signatories only).
